In 2020, MPL insurers experienced an overall decrease in the number of claims filed and resolved due to the extraordinary conditions brought about by the pandemic; however, this hiatus will not continue in coming months. In this session defense attorney Malinda Matlock and plaintiff attorney Lee Livingston address where we are today and what we have learned over the past year. Livingston and Matlock will describe how attorneys initially managed the national shutdown of the court systems and its impact on existing cases as well as successful strategies for resolving existing and future claims.

The pandemic has profoundly changed health care delivery. What new approaches for organizing providers, promoting patient safety, and managing risk will be needed as the pandemic recedes?
Michelle N. Dibadj, Esq., assumed the position of the director, Claims and Litigation, at Ascension Risk Services in August 2018. In this role, she is responsible for development, implementation, and management of proactive claims and litigation management programs for Ascension Risk Services. Ms. Dibadj leads a claims team in managing HPL and GL claims and litigation for the health ministries across the country.
Kurt Scott is the president and chief executive officer of Kansas Medical Mutual Insurance Company and KAMMCO Casualty Company, Inc. (collectively KAMMCO). He began his career at KAMMCO as the vice president and chief financial officer in December 1989, shortly after the formation of the of the company, and was a key player in the design of the company’s systems and operations.
Dr. Medows is the Executive VP of Population Health at Providence St. Joseph Health. She also currently serves as a member of the Physician-Focused Payment Model Technical Advisory Committee to make recommendations to the U.S. Secretary of Health on current and future physician payment models.
Sean currently serves as SVP & President of Walmart Health and Wellness. Just prior to this role Sean served as President of Population Health for Sharecare, a digital health company founded by Jeff Arnold, Doctor Oz, and Oprah Winfrey. Prior, he served as CEO of Care Innovations, a joint venture of Intel and GE Healthcare.
Aashima works at the intersection of health and technology. As director of global healthcare solutions for Google Cloud, it's her job to push the limits of what’s possible in life sciences. She's responsible for digitally transforming the industry using the tech giant’s cloud technology in new and unique ways.
